GuilFest is one of the most popular and fastest growing festivals in the UK, and Glasswerk will be down there this year to experience it first hand.
Having gone to school in Guildford back in the day, there will surely be a sense of deja vu as I revisit childhood memories. i.e. drinking in Stoke Park after dark. But the real appeal of the event this year is the diversity of the line-up, with legendary artists of an older generation sharing a stage with cutting-edge new acts riding on the crest of the wave that is the new rock scene,. while also being able to see numerous up-and-coming bands that I myself know and have worked with.
The Main stage is sponsored by BBC Radio 2 who broadcast live programs throughout the weekend from the festival. This year there is an amazing line up of bands and artists, headlined by The Pogues, Paul Weller and Status Quo. Other legendary names include Marillion, Chas 'n' Dave,Lulu, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Proclaimers and Daniel Bedingfield. Meanwhile the likes of Thunder and Hothouse Flowers will be on The Uncut stage.
Of more contemporary note, and acts who I will certainly be looking out for, are The Subways, the Others, The Crimea, Hal and The Black Velvets. There will also be the chance to see good Glasswerk friends Cujo, Oceansize and Intervurt.
There are an amazing selection of stalls, bars, stages and even a kids area. So if you want to see hundreds of bands, hundreds of stalls, a 140ft bar and thousands and thousands of people having a great time make sure you book your ticket for Guilfest before they all sell out!
