Bluetones on Tour

The Bluetones guitar-pop classics have made them the biggest draws of the thriving UK rock’n’roll underground right now. Largely via the net. Their December tour was a triumphant sell-out of medium sized venues packed (literally) with loyal Blue Army and fresh new faces alike singing (and in some cases, roaring) along to a decade’s worth of songs from chart singles and albums – a giant but intimate party.

Despite no music press attention since the 20th century, The Bluetones are on a roll having sustained a successful career. (Even Matt and David from their videos are now household names with ‘Little Britain’ – in which the band have made cameo appearances). When Spring is in the air, The Bluetones will be on the road – at weekends! They’ve invited two completely different, rising names on the underground to join them; Emma Rohan is a pinch of PJ Harvey, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks and Patti Smith, then a twisted heap of something else altogether.

Corporation:Blend are the genre defying (rock? electro? punk?) band that helped kick off the thriving DIY Anti-Scene. Seasoned entertainers, The Bluetones are taking a SHOW on the road.

They’ve keep busy, and then some. Singer, Mark gets out there and plays solo shows (under an assumed name) at home and abroad while also DJing, making films (one was shown on Channel 4) – he is a central figure of alternative music activity and The Bluetones are the band that can shift tickets like hot cakes while seeming to be invisible. Spending a weekend flavoured with The Bluetones, a national treasure of our pop heritage, it’s easy to see why.
