Misfit Peter Doherty hopes to make it to the NME Awards on Thursday after his latest court hearing. Predictably Babyshambles are up for two awards and The Libertines for four.
“Pete really wants to go to the awards and we're hoping that he will be attending,” his spokesman said.
Mr Doherty is on £150,000 bail after being charged with robbery and blackmail earlier this month. He is due back in court on Monday and, as part of his bail conditions, must be in his drug rehabilitation clinic by 2200 GMT every day. The NME Awards are due to end by 2100.
As well as his band and former band being up for awards, in typical Doherty idiosyncratic fashion, the wayward media hungry star has also been nominated for Best Dressed Man, Worst Dressed Man, Hero Of The Year, Villain Of The Year and Sexiest Man.
Babyshambles also play three shows in London this week. A warm up show at The Garage and two sold out shows at the Brixton Academy on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
In other NME award news, Franz Ferdinand lead the nominations, up for five prizes. The NME show comes a week after they were named best British group and best British rock act at the Brits.
The Streets have four nominations while the Scissor Sisters and Razorlight have three each.
