The universally acclaimed debutant Nels Andrews has joined Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle and Lyle Lovett in being crowned the 'NewFolk' best songwriter at the Kerriville Folk Festival, and Andrews seems set to follow them into the public's consciousness if the buzz around 'Sunday Shoes', his first release, is any gauge.

“Great sound, guitar tones. Singing/harmonies were beautiful. Honestly, I was blown away. Great songs. It was really inspiring.” Brett Sparks – The Handsome Family
“I was warned that this was a good album, what I wasn't told was just how good. Quite simply Sunday Shoes is the meanest, moodiest and darkest album you're likely to come across this year. It's also a dead
cert for the top ten album list for 2004 of anyone lucky enough to hear
it.” Michael Mee – Net Rhythms
“Reaffirms your faith in music and threatens to wear out from repeated plays. Such an album is Nels Andrews …..word perfect from endless listens to what is a strong contender for album of the year” American UK
“just might stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the likes of Tom Waits and Townes Van Zandt . . . time will tell” Gary Whitehouse
