Adelfi Records is a new label set up by the School of Media Music & Performance and the IMC in conjunction with FreeflowUK at the University of Salford. Utilising the talents of exciting producers, engineers, designers and industry professionals of the future, the label is primariliy staffed by students, under the the watchful eye of both university staff and established music industry figures.

So what's the difference between Adelfi from other university and college record labels? Other than the support network of luminary music business folk and artists such as Bruce Findlay (School House ex Simple Minds management), Peter Whitehead (the A&R Network) & Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets) amongst many others, Adelfi Records is not solely aimed at university artists. In fact, rather than take the simple option of only recording and releasing artists in house, Adelfi's doors are open to musicians across the North West and beyond.

With this open policy Adelfi Records aims to build bridges between not only the industry but the music community as a whole, giving both student and outside new talent a helping hand as they take their first steps in the exciting business of making records.

Introducing:
A Boy Called Doris – Star Crossed Lovers
Having formed early in 2003, this is a particuarly strong debut from this Manchester based four piece. Originally hailing from Croydon on the outskirts of London, frontman Tony Bolton has become part of the furniture in recent months, running a regular club night of new music at Manchester's Thirsty Ssholar. This lilting track that tips its' hat to the likes of The Velvet Underground, whilst being bathed in tender female harmonies has already turned a few heads in high places.

Lee Griffiths – Golden Rule
Lee is an exceptional singer-song writer from North Manchester, whose talents lie in combining his accomplished voice with well-crafted songs and sharp lyrics. With enough material behind him for at least two albums, and having toured with many well-known acts, it is truly a pleasure to bring you this classic piece of Mancunian pop. A timeless love song so neatly packaged in 3 minutes.

Nephew – Tell Me Why
This Salford / Manchester based outfit have chosen to make the North West their hame having traveled from all corners of the UK & Ireland to study music at university. Tell Me Why combines dynamics that range from an accoustic whisper to the surge of a driving rhythm section and soaring violin, over which Chris Briden's heart-felt vocal effortlessly melts the iciest of hearts.
