'Misread' is the first single to be taken from the long awaited second album from Norway's Kings Of Convenience (aka Eirik Glambek Boe and Erlend Oye) and is released on June 7th on Source/Virgin.
The album 'Riot On An Empty Street' which follows on June 21st is the follow up to their massively acclaimed debut album 'Quiet Is The New Loud', and is a triumphant return toform, featuring their own unique sound, and individual take on life. From their characteristic simple instrumentation, it's all wide-eyed lyricism, soulful lullabies with a touch of bossa-swing and a warm hearted glow.
For the past couple of years, the two Kings have been living polar opposite lives. Erlend's path has been well documented, travelling the world, exploring and making dance music. He moved to Berlin and released a critically acclaimed solo album 'Unrest' last year, played live and DJ'd across Europe and recently released a DJ Kicks mix compilation. Eirik on the other hand, returned home to Bergen to continue his Psychology degree, and has spent much of the past few years guiding his practical patients through therapy.
Some things however are meant to be, and over the past six months, the pair came together in Bergen to once again unite in song. They have recorded some old live favourites amongst some immaculate new compositions. The result is 'Riot On An Empty Street', a breathtaking reminder of how special the Kings really are.
Kings Of Convenience will be performing live in an auditorium or hall near you in June.
