Martina Topley Bird, the vocalist whose highly acclaimed 2003 album ‘Quixotic’ was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize released the single Soul Food this week.
Available only as a downloadable release ‘Soul Food’ is available from Martina’s website link and other selected websites.
The single is backed by a live version of Too Tough to Die, Anything and Ilya which were taken from the Zoe Ball XFM studio session recorded on 28th August 2003.

Ranging from ambient ballads to swamp-boogie, from shattering rock to brutal electronica, ‘Quixotic’ was released to huge critical acclaim. Vocally Martina evokes singers of yesteryear with a nod towards the likes of Billy Holiday and Nina Simone.
The release of ‘Soul Food’ will be supported by a gig at the legendary Jazz Café in London on April 20th. This will be Martina’s first UK show of the year. Martina will be playing further dates in the Summer throughout Europe, including the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival on Thursday 8th July.
