John Squire's art exhibition

John Squire is to hold the first ever exhibition of his paintings at the ICA, London from February 14th to February 16th 2004. Displaying the artwork used from The Stone Roses through to his current solo material, the exhibition will be a rare chance to see Squire's work.

Throughout The Stone Roses' reign in the late eighties and nineties, Squire's paintings, influenced by Jackson Pollock and the abstract expressionists, became synonymous with the rapidly evolving Manchester scene. The paintings for 'Made Of Stone' and 'The Stone Roses' graced the cover of many a teenager's t-shirt throughout the country. Moving on to The Seahorses towards the end of the nineties and the Warchild album 'Help', Squire's work graduated towards inspiration from the likes of Jasper Johns.

The exhibition will run from Saturday 14th February to Monday 16th February 2004. Entry is free with ICA day membership (£1.50 Mon-Fri, £2.50 weekends). The gallery is open from midday until 7.30pm. On February 9th 2004, the day of release for 'Marshall's House', John Squire will play at the ICA. Nearly fifteen years on from The Stone Roses' legendary first ever London gig at the venue, the gig has been moved from the previously announced show at Islington Academy to tie in with the exhibition. Tickets already purchased will be valid for the new show. John Squire will also play at King Tuts in Glasgow on February 7th. 'Marshall's House', the follow up to 2002's top 15 album 'Time Changes Everything', will be released on February 9th through North Country Records. A single, 'Room In Brooklyn', will preceed the album on February 2nd and will be available on CD and limited edition 7″ picture disk.
