It’s Christmas!!!
It’s Indigo’s 3rd Birthday!!!
After its sporadic appearances at various venues around Manchester, no-one would have guessed that this cult indie night would have made it to 3 years old. Co-promoter Mat explains:
“It’s just a question of laziness really, it took us a while to realise that we need to sustain the momentum to make a successful night. But, we’ve always been lucky to have a hardcore of regulars that seem to love us.”
Now the loyalty of those regulars has been rewarded with a night that deserves its growing reputation. The playlist is eclectic with notable highlights from November’s night being the Moldy Peaches, Kate Bush, Pavement and The Human League. Indigo has also managed to attract the patronage of some superstars of the indie scene including Ash, the Electric Soft Parade and Polyphonic Spree as well as being acclaimed by Radio 1’s Steve Lamacq.
In addition to the resident DJs M & F, Indigo now features some of the region’s best live bands, with the line-up over the coming months including: The Strap-Ons and Jackie O.
December’s 3rd Birthday / Christmas bash plays host to Bane Overlord, the trashiest, hardest rocking band on up and coming label Chips Records. This is your chance to catch them before they scale the dizzy heights of The Darkness et al. link
The first 20 people heading down to this month’s Indigo will be rewarded with a special Christmas gift and everyone will get their own copy of the Indigo-zine and an Indigo badge.
You’ll find Indigo nestling in the cozy confines of Retro Bar, one of Manchester’s hidden gems, but a legend amongst indie kids nonetheless, situated as it is on the edge of the village and in close proximity to many of the major student haunts.
