Just how do you make a robot human? Simple, you replace it with a human. Three Trapped Tigers just do that. Rather than using backing tracks and the like, Three Trapped Tigers replace these electronic elements and create it themselves. In turn, this makes their music much more vibrant and free as is the case with EP3.
Opening track 10 is both frantic and delicate at the same time. The sampled noise in the background creates a dangerous and violent feel whilst the bell like and string sounds create a much more beautiful and sweet sound. Just think Aphex Twin combined with a bit of Kid A/Amnesiac Radiohead.
The same goes for the rest of the EP. The human aspects can be heard clearly. Whether it’s on the less electronic focused 11, or the truly beautiful 12, Three Trapped Tigers really shine as a band.
EP3 is an electrifying yet melodic and calm record. It is beautiful in places but jumps out at you when needed. It has its shares of much needed thrills but calms down just when the time is right.
