Nell Bryden – Live From Iraq

This is like country and western afternoon delight. Plenty of accoustic guitar, plenty of fast playing electric, including prolongued solos, a very Johnny Cash sounding bass, and of course an strong white american female blonde on the mic.

What is perhaps suprising is that this live show in iraq. First of all you might think, well maybe these country folk are letting the locals know that know all U.S citizens from certain states are all nutters. But this actually a morale boost for the troops. She, for all we know, could have been playing to a band of hicks.

The music itself is strong. “The house of the Rising Sun” has particular rock cross-over, but “that’s all right mama” is pure shitkicker heaven with not one cliche overturned!

The biggest shock though is that despite this being a 9 day visit, the track listing is perhaps quite short.
