Finlay Morton – Back To Basics
I guess if you threw Leonard Cohen and Chris Isaak in the ring together this is ultimately what might come out at the end. It’s indeed Americana and commentary on it. Metephorical encounters with the devil, country swing, soothing female backing vocals and a whispery shitkicker sing about cigarettes and drinking as well and you have the image formed. Quite what the UK audiences will make of it is anyones guess. Every cliche you expect from the west is intact. The soothing tunes that follow all the line dancing and you find couples engaging in a bit of ass grabbing slow dancing.
