The Exits – Neon City
Neon City is a fabulous slice of electro-rock but you have to wonder if perhaps The Exits were on holiday from their native Portsmouth when they came up with the title (Or perhaps concrete city didn’t scan as well).
Distorted vocals, thumping beats, electrical fuzz and a cracking chorus all add up to an engrossing, slightly un-hinged yet heavily addictive sound. Nowhere near as heavy as Pitchshifter and not as dance-influenced as the Prodigy, The Exits say nothing new but are an easy listen and should appeal to a large audience. Expect them to break out of the Wedgewood Rooms anytime soon.
