The Rivers – She Gives It Around

While the London to Brighton Run is all about old bangers heading to the coast, the musical traffic in the opposite direction is fresh faced but equally noisy. Somehow it’s not surprising that The Rivers have just been touring with The Kooks.

She Gives It Around is a two minute jaunt with the bluster of The Strokes and taut energy that marks out The Zutons or The Fratellis. Backed with another short exercise in bish bash bosh indie rock in the form of Fold For You, there’s a maturity that could knock a rash of shambolic skiffle-punk bands into shape, with the twitchy spark of such Jam-a-likes as The Rifles. Nothing ground-breakingly original, but neatly packaged.
