Hush The Many (Heed The Few) – Revolve

XFM favourites Hush the Many (Heed the Few) (HTMHTF) and their Belle & Sebastian/Divine Comedy sound are kickass…and I can prove it! ‘Revolve’ is their latest single that pleasingly sounds something like a Johnny Flynn affair. Abundant with an ebbing vibrancy that joyously lifts it above the mire of its poignant lyrics, it’s an inarguably fantastic track worthy of its single status.

Flipside ‘Story end’ is a toned down track of equal calibre that leans toward the aforementioned poignancy with an otherworldly essence, gently spilt vocal and emotive lyrics that quietly demand your attention. It even stirs memories of Verves ‘Twilight’ with an ethereal birdsong boasting outro.

All in all HTMHTF have a sublime timeless sentimentality, a modern day moodiness and a sumptuous wo/man vocal union that are each exquisitely delivered in an epic yet understated way. The suppressed boiling urgency throughout is all engaging and should they let it out a little more well, wouldn’t that be a treat! If this is a mere taster of what’s to come, then their LP shouldn’t be as criminally overlooked as I fear it might be. Whatever happens, I wish them well for their surely bright future. Bravo!
