Gnarls Barkley – The Odd Couple

There are mixed feelings all over about The Odd Couple, from the funky Gnarls Barkley and quite frankly all those who voted it on the wrong side of good, are correct.

It’s a weak album mish-mashed together in the hope something decent might come out in the wash. Gnarls Barkley have always been a background band for me, never really caught my attention but never hated their music. Of course, ‘Crazy’ is a huge phenomenon to live up to but if they can’t top that, then what hope is there for them really?!

The album doesn’t really have a distinct sound or theme. It really is quite disappointing, apart from ‘Who’s Gonna Save My Soul’ and ‘Going On’ which does hold that catchy universal sound that would help it to do just as well as ‘Crazy’ if it was the next release. After ‘Run’ it’s running downhill from there I’m afraid…and that is only track four.
