Speck Mountain – Hey Moon/Stockholm

The forthcoming debut album by Speck Mountain is described as Magical, Ethereal and Enthralling. Well they earn points here for the first two. But Enthralling is hardly how you could catagorise a song that is on a constant guitar lullaby repetition. Perhaps the rest of the album has more fizz to it.

So we are in psychedelic and easy listening mode here. But while we have artists over here such as Dot Allison and Beth Orton really knocking around with ideas and injecting life into genres, Speck Mountain seem content to plod along in as dreamy a state as possible. Slow is how to best describe the music. Anyone wanting to literally chill out with their brain going nowhere fast then this is the right sedative.
