These past few months it has been hard to escape from the constant stream of new artists appearing almost over night and out of nowhere who are then swiftly heralded as the next bright young thing. In comparison bands that first surfaced a few years previous are being ignored which is a shame, especially when they return with a song that exceeds what they did last time round and which puts many of this years hyped bands to shame.
‘Young Love’ is the comeback single by Eel Pie islands best known and possibly only band and is not a million miles away from the best moments of debut ‘Making Dens’. If anything the prog tendencies that they were once so well known for have been tightly reigned in, exposing their pop mentality in vibrant techni colour.
It’s a straightforward song that trickles along at a comfortable speed and contains a bag full of memorable melodies. While love lorn lyrics are split between Will and the hotly tipped Laura Marling, whose appearance only helps strengthen the strong foundation previously laid.
