Operahouse – Born A Boy

To be honest with you my heart sinks as soon as this track kicks in. It just sounds like every other mass produced indie track released. Operahouse seem to be another band desperate to be the Arctic Monkeys. Yes, another one.
There are some pluses, a couple of neat, well-executed guitar riffs twinned melodically with the bass lines, and the drumming sounds tight. However to be honest with you the best parts of the song is when there is no singing.
The ending is abrupt, and the song finishes in almost a confusing fashion. There is no clear beginning, middle or end to the song, and no clear progression. On the plus side, the lyrics are good, the backing vocals well placed and when the song gets going it is reasonably catchy, you want to dance.
I think the best advice would be for this band to try and be themselves, however cliched that may sound, not to try and be cheap imitations of something that has gone before.
