Goldfrapp – A & E

Goldfrapp usually gives you exactly what you want for getting ready to go out on a Saturday night. This song is an unexpected move for Alison, especially after the last single was guaranteed to remain in your head for days.
A & E has none of the qualities of the old Goldfrapp that made you want to get up off your chair and spin around in the middle of the room. If this song had a movement, it would definitely be a toe tap at the very most.
On the band’s MySpace a fan states that this song is “perfect gazing into the fire music,” which it pretty much is, if anyone actually ever does that.
The song itself is almost reminiscent of a female Badly Drawn Boy: dull, never really gets going and definitely doesn’t make you want to move. Although, this melancholic song could be a new direction for Goldfrapp, I certainly hope not.
