SINKANE Announce November UK tour

With a European tour just around the corner, SINKANE has today announced details of a new EP, recorded live at Spacebomb Studios in Richmond, Virginia.

Featuring tracks from across his career, the first taste is online today, with a new version of “Ya Sudan”, taken from the new Sinkane album ‘Dépaysé’, which was released earlier this year on City Slang. “Ya Sudan (Alive at Spacebomb Studios)” is the first of six Sinkane tracks, re-imagined at Spacebomb Studios in Virginia with their House Band playing and producing. The full EP, ‘Gettin’ Weird (Alive at Spacebomb Studios’ will be released digitally on October 25th with physical copies available on December 13th.

The Sinkane band’s infectiously joyful live show will be returning to the UK in early November, playing their first  London headline show since 2017’s performance at Heaven.

Sinkane’s Ahmed Gallab is an artist with a real stake in our current cultural and political climate. Born in London to Sudanese parents, raised in Ohio, and now calling New York City home, he explains the sentiment behind ‘Dépaysé’ in a letter accompanying the new album: “Dépaysé is a French word that basically means “to be removed from one’s habitual surroundings.”  By extension, it means to be disoriented, homeless. That’s a feeling I relate to very much in these times — and I don’t think I’m the only one who feels this way. That word gave me clarity and made my journey of self-discovery that much more exciting. 

“Sinkane is an American band comprised of people from all over the world,” he continues. “Our collective experience as children of the diaspora helped bring the music to life in the most honest way possible… “Dépaysé is the story of an immigrant’s journey of self-discovery in the Trump era. The music is loud and raw, and it’s bursting with an energy unlike anything I’ve ever done before.”

‘Dépaysé’ is Sinkane’s seventh full-length and the follow-up to Sinkane’s acclaimed 2017 album ‘Life & Livin’ It’.The band features Gallab, Elenna Canlas (keys and vocals), Jonny Lam (guitar), Ish Montgomery (bass), and Chris St Hilaire (drums).
