HUGE ARTS, COMEDY, & MUSIC NAMES ANNOUNCED FOR BIGGEST LATITUDE LINE UP YET

Latitude Festival has unveiled a host of new names across the music and arts stages, joining headliners Haim, The Chemical Brothers, Liam Gallagher, and Bill Bailey. The 15^th edition of the festival takes place in the magical grounds of Henham Park, Suffolk, across 16th-19th July 2020. Weekend and Day tickets are on sale here.

Snow Patrol were forced to cancel their headline slot at Latitude last year due to illness, and they make a triumphant return in 2020. The band will perform on The Obelisk Stage in the coveted Sunday lunchtime slot. This momentous performance celebrates 25 years in the business and coincides the band’s latest album release, Reworked. Expect festival-sized anthems with hits such as ‘Crack The Shutters’, ‘Run’, and ‘Chasing Cars’ emotively reimagined with a thrilling live orchestra.

Snow Patrol said:

“Snow Patrol are thrilled to perform our Reworked set (featuring 14 musicians no less) as special guests. Having played the first ever Latitude in 2006 we were gutted that injury forced us to cancel our headline slot last year. Thank you Latitude for giving us another chance to make it up.”

Brits Critics’ Choice nominee and YouTube’s One To Watch for 2019, Mahalia makes her Latitude debut on The Obelisk Stage. Already something of a legend, Mahalia was signed to a major label at 13, has supported Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sandé, and Jorja Smith, and racked up 21 million views on her track ‘Sober’. She is joined by singer-songwriter City And Colour who released his sixth studio album A Pill For Loneliness last year and is better known for being part of post-punk band Alexisonfire, the queen of grime Nadia Rose, pop-star Tove Lo best known for ‘Stay High-Habits Remix’ and the newly released ‘Calling On Me’, West African supergroup Les Amazones D’Afrique, and Grammy Best New Artist 2020 nominated Black Pumas, a Texan based two-piece with psychedelic soul.

Headlining the BBC Sounds Stage are prolific psych-rockers King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard who have a back catalogue of 16 albums due to releasing multiple a year with 2019’s Fishing For Fishies and Infest The Rats’ Nest adding to their cult like following around the globe. La Roux brings with her Kaleidoscopic pop and a neon-beach-tinged aesthetic from third studio album Supervision, to be joined by bilingual singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon, dream-pop duo Purity Ring who will perform tracks from highly anticipated new album Womb, and electro R&B trailblazer Banks who continues to cement her reputation as truly global pop artist with third album III.

Incendiary performance artist Kate Tempest made her Latitude debut nearly a decade ago and has since become renowned for her documentary storytelling and emotive lyricism. She winds both strands together on album The Book of Traps And Lessons some of which she performs live this year. Also announced for BBC Sounds Stage are Nubya Garcia, Stella Donnelly, Oscar Jerome, King Kong Company, Anna Meredith, The Beths, and Annabel Allum. Something for everyone would be an understatement.

The Sunrise Arena showcases the most credible underground music stars and this year is no exception. Headlining are grime icon Ghetts off the back of latest single ‘Like What’, and Madrid’s garage pop queens Hinds whose latest tracks ‘Good Times Bad Times’ and ‘Riding Solo’ have been playlisted across BBC 6 Music. This year’s Sunrise Arena is exploding with a range of trailblazers including Miraa May, LA Priest, Miss Grit, Bad Sounds, Martha Gunn, Confidence Man, Joesef, Oklou, Lola Young, Sorry, Men I Trust, Chloe Moriondo, Lyra, Porridge Radio and more to be announced.   

Home of world-class comedy, this year features spectacular stand-up stars and cutting-edge new talent. Fresh from last year’s critically acclaimed debut feature film, Benjamin, Simon Amstell returns to bring his brand-new stand up comedy to Latitude, headlining The Comedy Arena. 

Among those in charge of splitting sides across the weekend are Abigoliah Schamaun, Angela Barnes, Rich Hall, Kerry Godliman, Chortle Student Comedy Awards, Flo & Joan, Jayde Adams, Olga Koch, and Shazia Mirza.

Last summer Latitude introduced The Listening Post; a whole new stage dedicated to the diverse and creative art form that is podcasts, it became a standout success and returns in 2020 with some of the hottest podcasters around. Grumpy Old Women writers Comedian Jenny Eclair and Judith Holder will broadcast a hilarious live version of their podcast Older And Wider at Latitude. Craig Parkinson (The Line of Duty, Four Lions) brings The Two Shot Podcast to the festival, interviewing a very special guest. Returning to the Listening Post are The Poetry Exchange, discussing poems as friends with some very special guests.  Latitude also welcomes acclaimed sitcom Brian And Roger to the stage, featuring Harry Peacock (Toast of London) and Dan Skinner (Angelos Epithemiou). Pod Bible, the UK’s first ever magazine dedicated to podcasts, will present Pod Bible Live, and the winner of The British Podcast Awards: Best Live Show, a new category for the 2020 awards supported by Latitude, will also perform.

Judith Holder says:

“Think two game old birds nattering over the virtual garden fence about being so old you think J Lo is a drink or having issues with ‘the undercarriage’ which make PMT seem like a Disney ride.”

The Speakeasy will host a rabble-rousing range of established wordsmiths and emergent talents who all recognise the power of language to change the world. Women’s Prize for Fiction return to celebrate their 25th anniversary with a very special headline talk from bestselling novelist Kate Mosse, while Man Booker Prize longlisted author of The Water Cure Sophie Mackintosh joins The Speakeasy line-up, to launch her issue of Five Dials with special guests TBA. Salon London do the legwork for you as they present Gigantic: 300 Books You Won’t Have To Read. Self-titled sexpert Flo Perry will present a talk based on her book How To Have Feminist Sex: A Fairly Graphic Guide. Raynor Winn will present her magical and life-affirming new book The Wild Silence, the follow-up to the uplifting internationally bestselling debut The Salt Path, Patrick Barkham keeps us firmly grounded in nature, talking about his new book, Wild Child, and Laura Dockrill presents What Have I Done? Her honest, taboo-breaking memoir about struggling with postpartum psychosis.

For a vocal warm-up before Liam Gallagher’s headline show, head to the Music & Film Arena, where Salon London will present Don’t Look Back in Anger, taking a closer look at ‘Cool Britannia’ followed by Britpop-aoke. A Latitude arts bill without boundaries breaks new ground once again with highlights including the Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Waterfront debut led by new artistic director Carlos Acosta, and Mark Kermode will be Live In 3D with new show MK3D.
